One year ago today Spirit in Gear made its debut. Do I say "Happy Blog Birthday" or Happy Blog Anniversary?" I'll go with the anniversary for now. What have my blogging compatriots who have already passed the 1-year mark (or 2) called this?
I remember seeing that first post published and wondered it anyone would notice or care that it was there. Thanks to friends, comments showed up on my early blog posts. It felt pretty darn thrilling, let me tell you. Instant gratification!
People came forward to help me, and that continued interest and support has fueled my writing pump. Virtual hugs go out to:
- Dick Richards who guided me with early feedback/pointers, and invited me to write a guest post to introduce me to the blogging community a year ago.
- Phil Gerbyshak, who lent his technical cap to unearthing blog traffic glitches and providing solutions so that I could take my blog to the next level. He is also a wonderful cheerleader for my writing soul.
- Troy Worman for inviting me to join 100 Bloggers to contribute posts on personal development topics.
- Every single person who has taken the time to come to my blog, to read, to leave a comment, or link to me. You have provided opportunities for me to make and enjoy connections - an absolute essential because the act of writing is so solitary.
- To all the bloggers I've met through this virtual community. I'm impressed with who you are, how you wear your uniqueness without reserve, and what I learn from your writing. You inspire me!
Taking time to note a milestone (regardless of its size) helps me to pause and to celebrate the distance travelled. Last week my blog surpassed 5000 visits. It's a modest number by blog standards, but it's a great start. As I've been reminded, we can only eat an elephant one bite at a time.
Happy blogiversary! Here's to your continued success. A big virtual *hug* back at ya! Keep swinging and you'll keep hitting 'em!

Kirsten, thank you for the "atta girl!" Celebrating with others, even in a virtual community like ours, makes it more fun. Thanks for stopping by.

Debbie,
Happy Belated Birth-Blog-Day!
I'm beginning to realize just how small a world we live in ;) You mentioned Phil Gerbyshak who I know through another blog of mine! Positive attracts positive, eh?
Wishing you more blessings ;)
